9 mo. stats and a PT update

Yes, yes, I promised I would not update anymore on PT, but it is going much better than I had ever anticipated. *crosses fingers* Let's hope it continues. Today was day 6 and so far, only one spill at school on the playground. In her defense, she did tell the teacher "potty," but kids notoriously wait until the last minute. :) Day 6 was especially great....she sits down and calls it "watering the garden"....she does this like a champ...our star chart that came with the book (40 possible stars) is nearly full (but we did start this chart like, uh, last June...). Mommy is still nervous and we go places in pull-ups, for now.

EH had his 9-month well-check yesterday. On *their* scale, he weighed a mere 21 pounds and 15 ounces. (on our scale he weighed 22.5 weeks ago....maybe *I* should try their scale, too) Weight remains in the 75%. His head circumference jumped to 85% so I guess he is learning something. :) His length dropped to 60% but the doc assured me that the way they measure babies is not all that accurate. I'm not worried. I see growth in his clothes! The pediatrician pronounced him perfect and told me I should have another one! ;)

A Mother's Sigh

With apologies and a forewarning, this may not be the perkiest blog entry ever. With each entry, I try to highlight only the happy and positive aspects of things, but today I just wish someone would give me the key with all the answers. No, I'm not talking about potty-training. I knew that would be hard. And yes, I know *everyone* wishes they had the answers and that is life. I am aware.

Once again, I find that dating while married is just over-rated. I don't know how so many people schedule nice dates with their mates and enjoy themselves. Fine, we had a date to a concert. A very nice concert with a talented performer. It was so exciting I even slept most of the first piece. (sometimes this is a good sign for me...frankly, I am constantly tired, so I'm not sure what it was tonight) Fine, we did enjoy ourselves. But, then we come home. Is the struggle and chaos and screaming and over-tiredness of dealing with what lies at home really worth the 2 hours of "freedom from the schedule?" It just seems to cancel out the nice time that went before. Sigh. I know, it's life and everyone has the same struggles. I just wish someone would enlighten me with how *they* do it...

After last night's success, the bed remained dry and the pull-up fairly so. There was no pee until about 11am. But, it was great. I figured out that my child does best in nothing....the underpants themselves are as bad as pull-ups, except worse because they add to the laundry. ha ha! So, she is sitting somewhere and says, "I have to pee!" She promptly gets herself to the potty and does VERY well. We were proud. The rest of the day was not successful. I ran an errand (in pull-up) and later 2 pairs of underwear and then a complete accident (too tired)....So, on to day 3 tomorrow. And I've decided it would be nuts to keep posting all this information. Know that we have started PT and we appreciate any prayers and advice thrown our way. Oh, and we're going to try morning music class in undies.....

11:46 pm

The sound of the tinkle is a beautiful thing.

You go, AK! You rock, girl!

*pats* self on back for good-mommying. (It says that in an advice section of my parenting magazine!) :)

8-0

8 underpants: 0 diapers!

We have officially started potty-training. The for-real kind...as in don't ever put another diaper on AK! Well, the girl has a bladder of steel and a will even stronger. She stayed dry from ~8:30am until 5pm....Unreal, eh? And probably very unhealthy. But, don't worry...it ALL came out and then some....nearly every 15 minutes until 9pm.

I think we conquered the "going #1" fear factor today, so that's good. Many M+Ms were had, so tomorrow only the "good" pees will get an M+M. She's too good at the game....and I learned my lesson this summer...Today it was OK because it was the "kick-off" day....All in all, there were 3 really good pees...2 this evening in the pull-up which was almost dry. We'll wake her at 11pm and try again and then it's nighty-night...hello day two.

From our music class a little song that goes: Goodbye, so long, farewell my friends, goodbye so long farewell...we'll see you soon again my friends, so goodbye so long farewell..

Adapted to PT: Goodbye so long farewell my diapers, goodbye so long farewell...Goodbye to diapers, goodbye to size 5, goodbye so long farewell...We'll never see you again, my friends, goodbye so long farewell.....you get the idea......
