Today will always be a day to remember, in more ways than one, but the one we will remember the most is
SHE WALKED!
And of course, in typical mama style, I missed the first step. We had a neighbor and her boy over and I had *just* stepped out of the room when K shouted "She took a step." Unbelieving, I responded "Without holding onto the ball (large exercise ball)." "Yep," came the response.
But I was there for steps 2 and 3. And every one since then (unless she's gotten up in her crib tonight). There have been many. She didn't just take one step and stop. She took several in a row. Some say she's known all along; she just wanted to do it right the first time. Typical baby. "A stern, black-haired infant" as our 10-year-old neighbor called her earlier today....And the turns. I heard this is typical. And at about step 20 or so, I started to cry. Yes, I was 1. relieved (see earlier posts) and 2. proud. So, so proud of my big girl for doing it on her own (and before the 3/23 deadline). I said last night to J, "Nope, I've given up; I don't think she can do it." And when I finally let it go, she did it.
There are other things to let go. This is only the beginning.
